The Light Rail Transit Authority recently held its culminating activity for the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration at the LRTA Depot on March 28, 2025.

This event, organized by the LRTA Gender and Development (GAD) office, emphasized the authority’s commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Key highlights of the celebration included the recognition of female train operators for their outstanding performance in a traditionally male-dominated field, acknowledging their significant contributions to the transportation sector.

Additionally, the event marked the official launch of the DOTr Rail Sector GAD Evaluation Toolkit, designed to promote gender-responsive practices within railways.

Throughout March, LRTA organized a series of activities to celebrate Women’s Month. Every Wednesday, the authority distributed commemorative items, such as umbrellas, food containers, and lanyards, to commuters. The LRTA also provided complimentary services at select stations, including haircuts for three consecutive Wednesdays, as well as massage, manicure, and pedicure services for female employees.

The culminating event featured a luncheon for female personnel, an energetic Zumba session, and continued the free haircut service for attendees, fostering wellness and community spirit among LRTA employees and commuters alike.

The 2025 National Women’s Month celebration reinforces LRTA’s dedication to women’s empowerment and its vision of creating a gender-responsive public transportation system that serves all Filipinos.
