The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) recently held a special recognition ceremony to celebrate the dedication and contributions of officials and staff members who were instrumental in the successful completion of the LRT Line 1 South Extension Project – Phase 1.
During a flag-raising ceremony at the LRTA Compound in Pasay City, LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando T. Cabrera personally presented certificates of appreciation to the deserving officials and employees.
In his speech, Atty. Cabrera underscored the importance of this accomplishment: “The completion of the South Extension Project demonstrates our ability to conceptualize, develop, and operate major initiatives that provide convenient, accessible, safe, secure, and affordable transportation for our passengers.”
The LRT-1 Cavite Extension project features five new stations: Redemptorist-ASEANA, Manila International Airport Road, Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos (formerly known as Sucat).
This extension project significantly reduces travel time between Baclaran in Pasay City and Bacoor in Cavite, decreasing it from 1 hour and 10 minutes to just 25 minutes, and is expected to accommodate an additional 80,000 passengers daily.
