Starting August 2, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will implement the approved fare adjustment for LRT-2.
Based on the approved adjustment by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the minimum boarding fee will increase from the previous P11 to P13.29. Additionally, a fee of P1.21 will be charged for every kilometer traveled, up from the previous P1.
STORED VALUE CARD
For the current minimum fare of P12 using the stored value or “beep card,” the fee will increase to P14.
The maximum fare (from Recto Station to Antipolo Station) will be P33, up from the previous P28.
SINGLE JOURNEY TICKET (SJT)
For Single Journey Tickets, the minimum fare will remain at P15.
The maximum fare (from Recto Station to Antipolo Station) will be P35, up from the current P30.
Utilization of Additional Fare
According to the DOTr, the additional fare will be used for improving and enhancing the facilities and services of LRT-2. The last fare adjustment for this line was approved in 2015.
Meanwhile, the LRTA will continue to offer a 20 percent discount to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and students using LRT-2.
The LRTA encourages passengers to use stored value cards or beep cards to save money and avoid inconvenience.
The last fare increase for LRT-2 was implemented in 2015.
