The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) celebrated the spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition with the kick-off of its annual Sports Fest 2024 last Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at LRT-2 Depot, Santolan, Pasig City. Under the theme “United in Sports, Building Bonds Fostering Fair Play,” the event brought together employees from different departments for a day of fun and friendly rivalry.

The opening ceremony was a vibrant spectacle featuring a parade of players representing four teams, each adorned in a distinctive color: lavender, light yellow, light blue, and mint green. The Ms. LRTA 2024 competition added a touch of elegance and confidence, showcasing the talents of team representatives.  Players then took the oath of sportsmanship, vowing to compete with integrity and respect.

The Sports Fest included diverse activities to cater to all interests.  Employees battled it out in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and Mobile Legends matches.  Traditional Filipino games like Patintero and Batuhang Bola were also featured in the “Larong Pinoy” section, adding nostalgia to the day.

LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando T. Cabrera emphasized the event’s importance in fostering unity among employees, stating, “This is a chance for us to come together as a team, strengthen our bonds, and remind ourselves of our passion for serving the public.”

The awarding of the winners will be at the LRTA Anniversary celebration on July 12. The Sports Fest is a testament to the LRTA’s commitment to promoting a healthy and positive work environment while reinforcing its dedication to excellent public service.
