This is in reference to the initiative of the Department to promote inclusive and people-oriented mobility through the prioritization of active transportation. The promotion of active transportation is in accordance with the Executive Order No. 774 S. 2008, National Transport Policy and the Joint Administrative Order No. 2020-0001 of the Department of Health, The Department of Transportation, The Department of Interior and Local Government and The Department of Public Works and Highways, among others.

The Road Sector of the Department together with SM have developed and recently launched the DOTr-SM Biker’s Manual that aims to provide cyclists knowledge on the proper etiquette and road safety measures to be observed on the road. The Biker’s manual was adopted from the DOTr Department Order No. 2020-014 on the protocols and guides for active transportation and light mobility vehicles. This Information, Education and Communication (IEC) initiatives aims to promote the safety of cyclists by educating them with written and visual explanations.
